A celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community in the eastern region of the UK

We hope you enjoyed Peterborough Pride 2021!

Peterborough Pride is an annual festival dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community in Peterborough and the eastern region of the UK. Rescheduled from June 2020, this year's event took place on Saturday 21st August 2021.

As a not-for-profit event, Peterborough Pride is organised by a group of volunteers who are passionate about equality and the values of inclusion. Together, we are proud to provide a platform that not only raises awareness of the LGBTQIA+ community, but campaigns for a better city that recognises and celebrates difference.

Teddi The Drag Queen

Teddi the Drag Queen (he/she/they) is Peterborough’s premiere drag queen frequenting local haunts all over the city, whether that be events or stage shows, giving you the diva you all deserve. The chanteuse is so delighted to be comparing the main stage for Peterborough Pride for the first time!

Ritzy Crackers & Friends

Ritzy Crackers (she/her) is Peterborough’s resident Queen of Camp and hostess of Embrace Events, she’s been on the scene for over 25yrs she’s got a million looks who likes to bring the party to the people in anyway she can, she’s a whirlwind of glitter and love, She’s a Drag Artist extraordinaire this year with candyfloss pink hair.

Ed.G.Teen

Ed.G.Teen (He/They) is a non binary drag artist based in Peterborough.  He is a wizard of words, a cunning linguist and a master debater having had one of his original poems read by Sir Steven Fry. An all round performer, Ed.G.Teen gives looks, comedy, entertainment and a healthy dose of overused content. Having worked behind the scenes on Peterborough Pride since 2017, Ed is ready to rear his acne covered face.

Four years ago in an East London basement, cabaret superstar Rhys Pieces gave birth to his show – QUEEFY – as a place to come and be Queer as F*ck! You will leave as one of the Queerdo family... fully entertained and fully gagged. With an ever-changing cast of cabaret, drag, circus, sideshow, live vocals and more, Rhys and the QUEEFY Queerdos are taking the show on the road, to give you a chance to fall in love with our campery... come get your QUEEF on!

Ashleigh Owen

Peterborough Pride presents internationally ignored comedy-cabaret performer Ashleigh Owen (she/her). Join her as she takes you on a hilarious musical journey; serenading you with her treasure trove of stupidly brilliant comic songs. Performing her take of songs that you’ll know and love, but in a way you’ve never heard before.

Tough Nut Theatre

Tough Nut Theatre proudly present songs from their brand new musical, GuyMart, a supermarket like no other... where gay men go to find their next sexual partner! Cheeky and uncomfortable in equal measure, this show takes a closer look at the effects of online hook-up culture on gay men.

Daniel Molyneaux

LGBTQ+ singer/songwriter Daniel Molyneaux (he/him) is on a lifelong mission to help normalise the existence of LGBT people, through his music. With phenomenal vocals, infectious beats and a silkier than smooth Caribbean waistline to match, it’s impossible not to move your body to Daniel’s music, as well be joyed by his message of equality, social-justice and love.

Melody Sproates

Melody Sproates (they/them) is a trans / non-binary theatre maker and zine-ster. They make challenging and sometimes daft work to help represent the underrepresented and advocate positive well being for the LGBTQIA+ community. They have worked on projects such as their comedy lip sync solo show '*Gender Not Included' and 'Stay Cool Stay Queer' a free creative arts project and zine series.

Electric Blue

The Sheffield singing/comedy queen with the blue lips. Working up and down the country Blue never fails to entertain and wow the crowds with her energetic performances, quick wit and dazzling vocals.

Alexa Vox

Ms Alexa Vox (she/her) is bringing Broadway to Peterborough with her big voice and bigger frock! A musical theatre tour-de-force! She's high camp and loose lipped! Proudly representing the trans community.

Disco Tea Party

Join Disco Tea Party’s legendary disco Divas Fatt Butcher (they/them), Alanna Boden (she/her) & Blanche (they/them) and get ready to boogie. We’re bringing all the disco beats, powerhouse vocals, and pride anthems to the party.

DJ Slinky Amy

Peterborough Pride welcomes the return of DJ Slinky, a multi genre DJ from Peterborough who has performed at nation-wide events across England. From House, Electro, Big Room, Bassline and Happy Hardcore, DJ Slinky performed at the 2019 Carnival of Love street party, and now produces her own dance music!

The Parade

Saturday 21st August 2021 – 12:30pm

Led by EMBRACE Events, the 2021 parade started at The Key Theatre and made its way through the city centre and the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral, ending in Cathedral Square. This year, we saw dozens of people walk together as a community, adorning their proudest outfits, LGBTQIA+ flags, whistles and community spirit!

Street Party

In 2021, Peterborough Pride showcased fantastic LGBTQIA+ performers from across the country, with something for everyone, from cabaret and Jamaican Dancehall, to comedy, drag and performance!

FAQs

There won’t be a food and drink stall within the Street Party, but you can bring your own snacks and refreshments in plastic bottles. No glass will be allowed within the Street Party.  

We are encouraging people to act responsibly and be aware of their surroundings, including wearing face coverings when felt needed. We anticipate the front of the stage to be busy, with more space available nearer the back (towards Starbucks). NHS Track and Trace signs will be on display that you are welcome to scan and there will be hand sanitizer at the information point.

There will be a stage at the Guildhall with an area reserved for people with limited mobility. Behind this will be a mix of deckchairs and standing room. There will be an information point and some stalls from local LGBTQIA+ charities and organizations around on the day. There will be a range of performances from cabaret, theatre, drag acts and DJ’s.

Near the front of the stage there will be deckchairs for people to use.

The nearest car park is The Key Theatre (PE1 1EF). Spaces at this car park are limited. There is also parking at Car Haven (PE1 1YX). Peterborough train station is a 10-15 minute walk and there are bus stops on Bishop’s Road. You can find out prices for the nearest carparks at parkopedia.com
